About The Wood Burner

By the The Wood Burner team ยท Updated 2026

The Wood Burner is an independent guide to firewood and wood heat for UK households. We cover the kit you buy once (log splitters, stoves, fans, moisture meters), the jobs you repeat every year (seasoning, storing, lighting), and the faults that send you searching at 8am on a cold morning.

Who writes it

We are a small team of people who actually heat with wood and have used most of this gear in real gardens and wood stores, not just read the box. The Wood Burner is published by Future Business Media, which runs a family of independent specialist titles.

How we research

We test and compare where we can, read the manuals and the owner forums, and check current UK availability before we name a product. British conditions come first: our advice assumes British wood species, British weather and British rules, including the Ready to Burn requirement for firewood sold in England.

How we make money

Some of our links to retailers such as Amazon are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them. It costs you nothing extra and it never changes what we recommend. See our affiliate disclosure and editorial policy for the detail, or get in touch if you spot something we have got wrong.
