Firewood is sold in bulk bags, crates, nets and loose loads, all different sizes, which makes comparing prices almost impossible by eye. Enter what each seller quotes and we will work out the real cost per cubic metre of solid wood, so the cheapest headline price stops fooling you.
Compare firewood deals fairly
Fill in any two or three options. Pick the unit each seller quotes; we convert everything to stacked cubic metres of solid wood.
How the conversion works: a loose-filled builder's bulk bag settles to roughly 0.65 of a stacked cubic metre of solid wood, a wooden crate is usually around 1.2 stacked cubic metres, a standard net of logs is roughly 0.025 of a cubic metre, and a loose-tipped load is quoted in cubic metres directly. We use those typical UK fill factors, so the result is a like-for-like price per real cubic metre of wood, not per bag of mostly air.
